There is much discussion in our industry about how often carpeting should be cleaned. Surely you have heard “Wait as long as you can before you clean your carpet …” or “Once you’ve cleaned your carpet, it’s never the same ….”
These widely used comments have stemmed from unfortunate encounters with uninformed cleaners that have left the carpet with an overload of sticky detergent residue. The unfortunate consumer has assumed that this is the case with all carpet cleaning and resolved to wait until the carpet is in dire straits to clean it.
The good news is that a properly cleaned carpet will not resoil quickly and will actually last longer. Why? Because damaging soils are removed with effective carpet cleaning. Soil is very abrasive to the carpet fibers. Soil that is not removed by vacuuming, even though it can rarely be seen by the naked eye, cuts and slices on the carpet fibers as the carpet is being walked on, breaking down the carpet yarns in the traffic areas. The result is that even with restorative cleaning at that point, it will not correct the damage that has been done to the fiber. Not to mention, a carpet that is not cleaned on a regular basis is an unhealthy carpet, and even, environment.
Carpet is like a sink. It collects pollen, insecticides, exhaust , etc. that gets tracked in or blown in from polluted outdoors. Carpet manufacturers state that a residential carpet should be professionally cleaned at least 18 to 24 months for best performance. More often if pets/children are present and perhaps more often if you are a smoker. The EPA published a guide that suggested regular cleaning frequencies based on number of occupants, etc.
A carpet that is maintained on a regular basis will not only last longer but will also provide a healthier indoor environment.

Consumer Education Report
Hi, this is Doug Dimick. Thank you very much for visiting our website. I am grateful for the opportunity to provide you with information about carpet cleaning and help you choose a carpet cleaning company.
I am the owner of New Life Carpet & Furniture Cleaning. Professional specialty services that we offer are carpet cleaning, carpet repair and installation, water restoration and clean-up and odor control. Over the past 12 years, I’ve learned that hiring a professional carpet cleaner is the subject of much confusion. In fact, people have so many misconceptions about carpet cleaning that I decided to offer this consumer education message so that when you select a carpet cleaning company, you can make an informed, intelligent decision. Please no matter what it takes “ Avoid Uneducated, Uninformed and Sometimes Downright Unscrupulous Carpet Cleaning Companies”
In just a moment, I’ll share with you six costly misconceptions about carpet cleaning. Plus, I’ll offer four recommendations. And I’ll give you seven questions you should always ask any carpet cleaning company before you invite them into your home.
If you want to speak with one of my highly skilled and trained customer service consultants, call 605-717-3022.
Now, here are the six most common misconceptions about Carpet Cleaning.
Misconception # 1
You should wait as long as possible before cleaning your carpet.
No. Dirt is abrasive – just like sandpaper. Every time you walk on your carpet, you grind dirt into the carpet fibers. This cuts into the carpeting, just as if you used a knife, causing it to wear out faster. A dirty carpet will not last nearly as long as a clean one. And, while vacuuming helps in itself, it’s simply not enough. The longer you wait to have your carpet cleaned, the more damage you do and the faster it will wear out.
Misconception # 2
The only reason to clean carpeting is to get out the dirt.
No. As you probably know, outdoor air contains pollens, fungus, bacteria, air pollution, cigarette smoke, car exhaust……and hundreds of other chemicals. When you and your family members come into your home, you carry in those pollens, bacteria and chemicals on your hair, your skin, on your clothing and on your shoes. Not surprisingly, all those chemicals, pollen and bacteria wind up – – you guessed it, in your carpet.
If you have allergies, asthma, emphysema or other breathing problems, one major source of those problems could be the pollens, fungus and chemicals in your carpet.
In addition – as you may know, tobacco smoke contains over 4000 different chemical compounds, 43 of which are cancerous. And even if you don’t smoke, those chemicals get on your shoes and you track them into your home and leave them in your carpet.
If you are sensitive to cigarette smoke, you might find that you’ll breathe easier after you’ve had your carpet cleaned by a professional company who can remove those harmful chemicals from your carpet.
So, in addition to getting rid of dirt, another important reason to clean your carpet regularly is to get rid of pollens, fungus, bacteria, chemicals and tars and residue from tobacco smoke.
Misconception # 3
One method of carpet cleaning is as good as another
No. You can choose two primary methods: Dry cleaning or Hot Water Extraction.
First, I’ll explain dry cleaning. Many people believe that dry cleaning your carpet is like dry cleaning your clothing. However, this is not true. All carpet cleaning methods use water in one form or another and there are three methods of dry cleaning carpet:
When a carpet cleaner uses dry foam, he applies carpet shampoo, allows it to dry and then vacuums it. Can you imagine applying shampoo to your dry hair, allowing It dry and then removing it from your hair with a vacuum? This method can leave a residue in your carpet, which is one of the reasons dry foam is not very effective.
The dry-chemical method is similar to dry foam. The major difference is that the company places a large cotton ‘bonnet’ on your carpet, and then using a machine, the bonnet spins from side to side, absorbing the dirt that’s in the carpet. Once the bonnet is saturated with dirt, another cotton bonnet is applied. Bonnet cleaning is somewhat like trying to use a large towel to rub the dirt out of your carpet and, like dry foam, it is not very effective.
The dry-compound method spreads an absorbent mixture that looks like wet sawdust all over your carpeting. A machine then brushes the mixture into the carpeting which, in theory causes the dirt to absorb into the mixture. Once the mixture has dried, a vacuum cleaner sucks the material out of the carpeting. Because the carpet is not rinsed in any way, this method not very effective.
The second carpet cleaning method is called Hot Water Extraction. This is a fancy way of saying that a hot water cleaning solution under high pressure is forced into the carpet and then sucked out of the carpet. This method is also referred to as ‘steam cleaning’ even though steam is not used.
Shaw Industries and Mohawk Flooring, the world’s two largest carpet manufacturers, recommend hot water extraction and you can choose from two different types: Portable extraction, which is done with a small machine. Or truck-mount extraction, which means the large cleaning machine is mounted in a truck or van.
Not surprisingly, the truck mount extraction cleans much better because it heats the water to a higher temperature – – and shoots the cleaning solution into the carpet at higher pressure – – which breaks up the dirt, bacteria and pollens. Then the machine uses high suction to draw the dirt out of the carpet. This is the method our company uses.
No question, the most effective way to clean carpeting is with a hot-water unit mounted in a truck. It’s the most powerful cleaning machine on the market and the only machine that thoroughly cleans and rinses your carpet of dirt, harmful bacteria, fungus, chemicals, pollens and tobacco residue.
Some people believe that hot water damages your carpet, but this isn’t true. By washing and then rinsing your carpet with hot water, we clean your carpet completely – – in the same way that the person who showers and then rinses off the dirt and soap will be much cleaner that the person who takes a sponge bath.
Misconception # 4
Having the right equipment is all a company needs to clean your carpets thoroughly
Not true. Many companies own hot water cleaning machines – – but a large number of employees do not know how to use them. You probably know someone who bought the newest computer on the market – – but didn’t learn how to use it for a year or more. The same is true with carpet cleaning machines. The company may own good equipment, but the employees may not know how to use it correctly. This is why it’s important that you choose your carpet cleaner carefully.
The best carpet cleaning companies are those that have been certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification, known as the IICRC. A carpet cleaning company cannot buy this certification – – it must be earned through study, experience and successful completion of formal, written examinations. Cleaners who are certified by the IICRC have, in effect, earned a degree in carpet cleaning.
The IICRC provides written credentials to the companies it certifies. So, before you choose a carpet cleaner, ask to see written proof of the company’s IICRC certification.
Misconception # 5
The Company that offers the lowest price is the company you should hire
Maybe – – but not always. Here are two important points to consider:
Point #1: The price you see offered my not be for the services you want performed. Before you select a company, decide what you want to accomplish. If you want the carpet cleaner to remove only some of the dirt, you can choose from hundreds of companies that use small shampooers or other cleaning methods. Or, you can even rent a machine at the grocery store and do the job yourself.
On the other hand, if you want your carpet thoroughly cleaned – – if you want to remove the harmful dirt, bacteria, pollens, chemicals and tobacco residues – – then you need to hire a company that uses hot water extraction mounted in a truck. This is the only way to assure that your carpet remains healthy and free from dirt, disease-causing bacteria, and harmful chemicals. So, remember that the price you see offered may not be for the services you want or need performed.
Point # 2: The price you see advertised may not be the price you pay. Many homeowners have learned that the low price they saw advertised was not the amount they were charged. And, if you’ve ever hired a carpet cleaner, you too may have been the victim of false or misleading advertising. You probably learned the hard way that some carpet cleaners offer a cheap price – usually between $3.95 and $9.95 per room – – and then pressure you into paying a lot more once they get inside your home. Some of them may even break the law by using illegal “bait & switch” tactics.
As in all businesses and professions, the carpet cleaning industry has its share of bad apples. I take no pleasure in telling you this, but some are unethical – – and sadly, a few are dishonest. By their misleading advertising and false promises, they cast a dark shadow on our entire industry. Then, you’ll find other carpet cleaners – – professionals like me who work hard to earn your trust and respect.
As a way of improving our profession, I’ve dedicated my business to educating the public. The only way you can make an intelligent decision is to have all the facts you need. This is why I’ve written this message. You may not choose Akrosteam to help you in your cleaning services today or in the future, I want you to have a better understanding of our industry so you can make the best decision for your family and household.
Misconception # 6
Any honest carpet cleaning company should be able to give you an exact price over the phone
I wish this were true, but it isn’t. Consumers often think that if they want to clean four rooms and the price is $6 per room, then the price will be $24. But this isn’t always true.
First, honest and reputable carpet cleaning companies usually price carpet cleaning by the square foot. So, if you’d like me to tell you the exact cost of cleaning your carpet, I need to know the exact number of square feet that you want cleaned. Our company believes every customer deserves a Free Carpet Audit, a in home evaluation of your carpet needs. This process usually takes about 15 minutes or as much time as you need to have all of your questions answered.
You’ll be glad to know that the carpet area to be cleaned is not nearly as large as most people think. For example, if you want your entire home cleaned and you home is 2000 square feet, the amount of carpeting to be cleaned might only be 1200 square feet. This is because most home measurements are outdoor measurements. Plus, I deduct the area taken up by walls, room dividers and the like. The result is that the actual area to be cleaned is usually about 60% of the square footage of the home.
So, even though I can’t give you an exact quote over the telephone, here are things I consider when quoting a price:
First is the type of carpet. Certain types of carpet are harder to clean than others. So, before I can give you a quote, I need to know the type of carpet you want cleaned.
Second is the amount of soiling. Carpet that hasn’t been cleaned for ten years will take longer to clean than carpet that was cleaned within the last six months.
Third is the amount of furniture that has to be moved. If we have to move your furniture, the quote must include cost for that labor. But if you move your furniture yourself, you’ll save money.
To recap, I consider the type of carpet, the amount of soiling, and the amount of furniture that has to be moved. So, as you can now imagine, every quotation is different.
If you are thinking about having your carpets cleaned, I offer these four recommendations:
- Make a commitment to yourself to get your carpets cleaned. The longer they remain dirty the sooner they’ll wear out. Plus, the longer you have to breathe in all the pollens, fungus, chemicals and dust mites that live in your carpet.
- List your objectives. Do you want only the dirt removed? Something you could do with a rented machine? Or do you want the bacteria, fungus and chemicals removed, which will require a hot water truck mounted cleaner, like I use? Do you want to work with an honest, reputable company? Or are you willing to risk working with the company that offers you the lowest price – – knowing that company may not be in business tomorrow?
- Ask questions. The way you learn about a company is to ask specific questions and listen carefully to the answers. Here are the questions I suggest you ask:
- What method of carpet cleaning do you recommend?
- What type of equipment do you use to clean carpet?
- What does your equipment remove from my carpet?
- How often should I get my carpets cleaned?
- What training has your company had in cleaning carpets?
- Are you a member of any trade associations? If so, which ones?
- Are you certified by the IICRC? Will you show your certificate?
- Once you’re satisfied that you’re working with an honest, competent professional, invite him
4. into your home and ask for a specific quotation in writing. A written quotation gives you the assurance that you know exactly what your job will cost – – no surprises. I know we are all very busy, but by taking a little more time in your selection process you will find yourself making the best decision for your carpet investment with no suprises.
By following these four recommendations, you’ll gain all the information you need to make an informed, intelligent decision. If you want a quick, cheap carpet cleaning job, many companies in the phone book can help you. Or you can rent a shampooer and do the job yourself.
But, if you want your carpet to be completely and thoroughly cleaned – – removing the bacteria, fungus, chemicals, pollens, and tobacco products – – then I invite you to call me.
I’ll be happy to answer your questions – – provide you a cost estimate over the telephone – – or come into your home and give you a free written quotation – – without obligation of any kind. To reach me or my staff, call 330-773-8882.
Here’s one last point: I know that many consumers are skeptical about carpet cleaning companies. Before I got into the business, I was skeptical too. So, in addition to dedicating my business to education, I do one more thing as well – – I guarantee my work. That’s right! I fully guarantee every carpet cleaning job we do. If you aren’t happy with our work, we’ll reclean the area for free. And if you still aren’t pleased, you pay nothing. Not one cent. I’ll refund 100% of your cleaning costs, No hassels! What could be more fair?
As a matter of fact, add this question to the list. Question # 8 is “Do you guarantee your work?” Not all companies do – – and it’s important that you have this information before you make your decision.
I hope you found this consumer message helpful. If you have questions or comments – – or if you’d like to schedule a free, in-home quotation please call us at 605-717-3022.
What Does WoolSafe-Approval Mean To You?
You might be surprised to learn that most carpet and rug care service company employees have no formal training or education. And there is no requirement to have any training whatsoever! Scary, huh? Rest assured our company isn’t one of those companies. Our cleaning technicians and other employees are trained through the WoolSafe Organization and have received the prestigious designation of “WoolSafe Fiber Care Specialists.” And as a “WoolSafe Approved Service Provider,” we are required us to have a business license, liability insurance and agree to follow a Code of Ethics. So, the question remains. “Does WoolSafe training mean anything to you as our client?” Yes, yes, yes, absolutely! It means a lot! It means that our company stays on the cutting edge of technology and change in the cleaning industry. It means that our company is working together with hundreds of WoolSafe Service Providers worldwide, to raise the standard of cleaning of furnishings, rugs and carpet, providing you with a higher quality service experience. One fine day, you find a remarkable stain on your carpet. You look closer, touch it, even smell it. You cannot identify what exactly the substance is. You interrogate every member of the household, but no one owns up to it.
As the primary person tasked with cleaning the carpet in the house, there would be minimum fuss if only you knew the cause of that perplexing eyesore on your carpet. Years of research and experience have armed you with knowledge of the many different ways of dealing with a variety of carpet cleaning issues. But, when there is an unidentified stain in your carpet, what do you do?
According to the National Carpet Cleaners Association (NCCA), the key is to act immediately upon discovery. Is the stain still wet or moist? If so, good. This will give you the chance to blot any excess liquid, or scrape up any solids. Use absorbent towels, cloths, or sponges. Next, you will need a cleaning solution. Apply it to the stain then rinse off with clean, lukewarm water. Get more towels or a clean cloth to blot the area dry. If the stain is still visible, treat it either with detergent or a detergent/vinegar solution. Once again, blot the area dry.
The last step would be the final rinse procedure, which is recommended for all stain removal processes. You will need to combine one part white vinegar and four parts water in a spray bottle. Shake well to form a solution.
You will also require clean white towels or cloths. Test the solution first on a small, unseen area of the carpet. If all is well then spray the solution over the stained area. Start around the edges working towards the center. Then, remove excess moisture by dabbing the dampened area with your towels or cloth.
Next, get more kitchen towels or another cloth and spread over the area. Stack the towels 6 to 8 inches deep. Secure the towels by placing a heavy object (i.e. a thick book) on top. Leave the arrangement overnight.
Repeat this process if necessary. When cleaning the carpet, just dab or blot. Do not scrub or rub as this will not only cause wear and tear on the carpet; it will also push the stain further into the carpet. Also, never, ever over-wet!
Take note however that the procedures mentioned above may not be effective 100% of the time.
If further treatment is needed, contact a professional carpet cleaner.

Should you get stain protector with your carpet cleaning
The answer is yes! Not putting a stain protector on your carpet after you clean may be the biggest mistake a homeowner can make when having their carpets cleaned. Remember Murphy’s Law? What can happen will happen!? Carpets installed today or purchased today, have a stain protector that comes from the factory. Over time, that stain protector will break down, especially in the traffic areas of your rooms. New Life Carpet & Furniture Cleaning offers to: Reapply that factory finish back to your carpet.
Not adding stain protectant back into your carpet can cause pre-mature damage to your carpet. Carpet is made up of thousands of clear plastic tubes that are colored in with dyes. The lighter the carpet, the less dyes in the tubes. The factory will coat those fibers with a stain protection that will wear off in the traffic areas. When that happens, the tubes will be scratched and damaged without the protection on it. The carpet will look worn or appear darker than it is. The reason is that the fibers are scratched. Example of this is that you can take a piece of plastic, scratch it all up and try to look through it. You can not. You also can not repair that plastic once it is scratched. The only way to prevent this from happening is, is to add protection on your carpet after you have it professionally cleaned.
New Life Carpet & Furniture Cleaning offers a 1 year spot and spill warranty to you when you add protection to your carpet after you have it cleaned and protected. We leave you a spotter that if a LIFETIME REFILL spotter that you need to use. If you cannot get a spot out during that one year with this spotter, we will RUSH back to your home and remove that spot for you.
In the video below, you will learn what Maxim Advance Protector can do for you and your carpets.
If you have any questions regarding this subject or any other questions regarding carpet cleaning, please contact us at (605) 717-3022 or via e-mail to: email@example.com to get this answers to your questions.
How important is Vacuuming
The most important thing you can do to keep your carpet looking great is to vacuum it! Do this thoroughly and regularly, especially in high traffic areas. For best results, use a vacuum with a beater bar or rotating brush and plenty of suction. Change bags and filters routinely, and keep recovery tanks clean. Studies show that even a well maintained vacuum can lose up to 80% of its “pick up ability” when the bag reaches 25% full!! When was the last time you checked your bag??
Why is vacuuming so important? That’s because most of the “dirt” found in our carpets is tracked in by us and our pets. This insoluble “dry particle soil” consisting of mostly sand, clay and quartz is easily removed through regular vacuuming. If this dry soil is left to build up underfoot, the grit constantly rubs against your carpet fibers like sandpiper. First, it removes the stain resistant coating on the fibers. Next, it permanently scratches the fibers smooth surfaces, dulling the carpet’s color. At this point, you can clean the carpet, but the beauty of your carpet in those areas is damaged beyond repair.
Rearranging your furniture is a good idea. By changing the traffic patterns, you can even out the wear on your carpet. Another compelling reason for regular vacuuming. Carpeting is beautiful and beneficial, but it also collects pollutants very efficiently. This unhealthy material enters our homes in the air or clings to clothing, fur or feet. It settles into our carpets and onto upholstered surfaces just like a furnace filter collects dust and airborne particles. Once saturated, our furnishings start “spilling” contaminants back into our indoor environment. In addition, there’s also organic materials that can affect those of us who suffer from allergies. Organic deposits found in our carpets can include food crumbs, beverage spills, dead skin cells, hair, insets, insect droppings, residues from heating and cooling, pet soil and other “bio-genic” wastes. This biological debris provides a breeding ground for microorganisms, like bacteria, viruses, fungi, dust mites, mold, etc. Regular cleaning reduces and controls bio-contaminants.
Healthy indoor air is another good reason to vacuum and clean regularly! Carpeting is beautiful and beneficial, but it also collects pollutants very efficiently. This unwanted material “filters” into our carpets. Without regular cleaning, carpets can become saturated with contaminants and start “spilling” it back into our indoor environment. We end up breathing higher concentrations of these unhealthy pollutants!
So there, you have it! It is important to vacuum. People ask me all the time, “What vacuum should I buy”? I have several customers tell me that they love their Dyson Vacuum cleaner. I personal do not endorse them, but am relaying what others have told me. I would say that you can get a good vacuum cleaner for around $300-$500. I would not get a cheap one as you will be buying a new one sooner. Make sure you do empty your bag more often. Even a bag-less one as well!

How to Select a Professional Carpet Cleaning Company
What distinguishes one carpet cleaning company from another? Here is a checklist that will ensure that you have asked the right questions.
1.) Do they have good references? New Life Carpet & Furniture Cleaning is considered by many to be one of the most reliable carpet cleaning companies in the area. We are often referred by some of the most seasoned professionals in the carpet industry. Our references are available upon requests.
2.) What kind of experience do they have? We have over 15 years of experience. We have cared for the finest of carpets and rugs. We have handled many specialty items and have seen many unusual situations. Whether the carpet is natural or synthetic, our experience makes us one of the most experienced cleaners in the area.
3.) Are they well educated in their field? Sadly, most companies in our industry do not invest in educating themselves in their field. We regularly attend educational courses, certification schools, conventions, and study trade journals and books related to our work. We are abreast of cutting edge technology and changes that regular occur in our industry. New Life Carpet & Furniture Cleaning has the ONLY Certified Master Textile Cleaner in Western South Dakota.
4.) What systems do they use? Many cleaners use outdated equipment with components that do not work properly, falling apart and held together by tarp straps. At New Life Carpet & Furniture Cleaning, you can be assured that we use state-of-the-art equipment. The machines we use are the most advanced systems available today. Our equipment does not over-wet the carpet. You can expect maximum soil removal and the pile of the carpet will be “standing tall” again.
5.) Do they use top-quality products? Our vans are stocked by only the very best products from top manucacturers. We refuse to use discount products that tend to leave sticky residues behind and discolor the carpet. You can be assured that our products are effective, efficient and safe for your carpet, the consumer and the environment. If a spot can be removed, our products will remove it.
6.) Do you get what you bargain for? NEVER select a carpet cleaning company based on price. Carpet cleaning is not as cheap as some would like you to think. Their technique is to advertise a low price to get in the door so they can push their low-quality, ineffective goods at higher prices than the real professionals charge. Quality carpet cleaning is not cheap but it will extend the life of your investment, and care for your carpeting in a way that will save you money in the long run.
7.) Do they guarantee their work? After having an uniformed, uneducated, or downright un-scurpulous carpet cleaner in you home, the hardest part is getting them back to fix the problem. At New Life Carpet & Furniture Cleaning, we offer a 100% money-back guarantee. We do not want to have anyone in our community that feels that they paid us for something they did not get. Our mission is to provide you with the Most Outstanding Service Experience EVER.
8.) Do they offer a referral reward program? We want to reward you for sending customers to us. For each new customer you send to us, we will send you a 10% referral certificate of what they spend with us the first time. You may use the referral certificate for cash or services. And remember that we guarantee our work, so help you friends, neighbors and co-workers enjoy high quality carpet cleaning. To help you, contact our office at 605-717-3022 and we will send to you, free trial offer cards that you can give to someone referred by you.
3 Healthy Home Benefits of Carpet Cleaning
Carpet cleaning can improve the appearance of your home and extend the life of your carpet, but perhaps the most valuable benefit from the process is improving you and your family’s health. According to the American Lung Association, if members of your household suffer from conditions that can affect their breathing, such as snoring or asthma, it’s especially crucial that you vacuum your carpets at least three times a week. Beyond vacuuming regularly, you may also benefit from having your carpets professionally cleaned at least once a year. If you’re not fully convinced of the benefits of professional carpet cleaning, consider the following top three ways the process leads to a healthier home:
1. Carpet cleaning eliminates trapped pollutants.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, a dirty carpet can retain several sources of indoor air pollutants, including pet dander, cockroach allergens, lead, particle pollution, and everyday dirt and dust. Toxic airborne gases can adhere to these particles and also get trapped within the carpet. These toxic gases can be released through everyday activities such as vacuuming and walking across the carpet, which can cause them to contaminate the air in your home. Professional carpet cleaning services kills these bacteria through special shampooing formulas and can remove deeply trapped pollutants with high-powered vacuums.
2. Carpet cleaning can clear out dust mite infestations.
Many homes have dust mite infestations, yet most homeowners aren’t aware of the infestation, because the creatures are microscopic. Dust mites themselves aren’t allergens, but they often leave behind feces and body fragments which are. Because of the microscopic size of these particles, they can easily be inhaled when the area is disturbed, which can exacerbate allergies. Many professional carpet cleaning companies utilize a technique known as steam cleaning when performing carpet maintenance work, which exposes your carpet to high temperatures that dust mites can’t survive.
3. Carpet cleaning can help prevent mold growth.
Especially in areas with high humidity levels, dirty carpets are at a high risk of developing mold growth when exposed to moisture. In precipitous weather, moisture frequently gets tracked into the home and can sink deep in the carpet fibers if not dried and vacuumed immediately. Having your carpet cleaned regularly can prevent mold and mildew growth, because professional carpet cleaners have high-powered drying tools that annihilate moisture. By eliminating moisture, you can prevent mold growth that can be harmful to your health if ignored for too long.
“Born to Win”
The difference between good companies and excellent companies is “Training”.–Zig Zigler “Born to Win” book. At New Life Carpet & Furniture Cleaning, we strive ourselves on training. New Life Carpet & Furniture Cleaning has the “ONLY” Certified Master Textile Cleaner in Western South Dakota and Northeastern Wyoming. What does that mean to our clients, you may ask? We believe that there are changes in our carpet and furniture cleaning industry and the only way to keep up with the changes is Education.
Our company is certified in 8 different areas. Carpet Cleaning Technician, Upholstery Cleaning Technician, Odor Control Technician, Water Restoration Technician. Doug is also certified in Stone Tile and Masonry Cleaning Technician, Leather Cleaning Technician, Color Repair Technician, and Repair and Re-installation Technician. We have traveled to Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia and now Houston for more training. We want to better service our clients to protect themselves from uneducated, uninformed and downright unscrupulous carpet cleaners. We pride ourselves on education, reputation, experience, guarantee, and systems.
I said earlier that we are continuing to educate ourselves to better serve our clients. Right now in Houston, I am at a conference with 3 authors that have written books regarding life and business. Tom Zigler (son of Zig Zigler) author of “Born to Win”, Michael Gerber, author of The E-Myth, and Howard Partridge author of 7 Secrets to a Phenomenal Life. How long does it take to dry?
This is a very common question that I receive. How fast does it take to dry? The last carpet cleaner left my carpets wet for days and it smelled musty.
Drying times can vary due to a number of factors. Humidity (inside and outside), the density of your carpets, how many rooms are cleaned at the same time. Ventilation and air circulation helps to reduce drying times. This can vary from 4 hours under to ideal conditions to as much as 24 hours in extreme cold and humid conditions. At New Life Carpet & Furniture Cleaning, we use special glides at the end of our equipment to help speed along the drying process. Our normal drying times are usually within 4-6 hours. It also depends on whether we add “Scotchgard” or deodorizer to your carpets. But rarely up to 24 hours. In some cases, we will leave air movers to help speed that drying process up as well. We also will place a protective pad or styrofoam block underneath the furniture to protect them from the carpet until it is completely dry. This will prevent rust spots or stains caused by furniture legs to form on your carpet.
We are focused on your satisfaction and health as a carpet owner. Always feel free to call us to discuss any questions or concerns about our service.
